Sultry in Red – A Bold Studio Session with Lauren
This recent studio session was all about fire, confidence, and a bold aesthetic. I had the chance to shoot with Lauren (@commander.cosplay), a former Playboy centerfold who now blends cosplay and modeling in her own unique way.
Lauren’s presence is powerful—she’s tasteful, sexy, and knows exactly what she wants from a shoot. For this session, we leaned fully into that energy with a theme built around red: red light, red tones, and shadows cut with sharp, directional slivers of light to amplify the drama. It was sultry, cinematic, and totally her.
The goal was to create something that felt true to who Lauren is—confident, a little provocative, and unapologetically feminine. This session also marked a bit of a turning point for her; she mentioned how it’s helping her explore more adventurous creative territory. As a photographer, it’s always exciting to be part of that growth and self-expression.
We shot in my Northern Virginia studio, using a moody lighting setup to play with shadows and bold color. I wanted the red light to feel like it was wrapping around her—dramatic, but still flattering. The result was a set of images that feel strong, sensual, and striking.
